Leah’s Pantry Communications Manager
Where You Fit In
Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Communications Manager will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of both internal and external communication strategies. Duties include managing Leah’s Pantry’s external communication channels such as social media platforms and company websites, generating newsletters, the development of marketing collateral, and adhering to the organization’s brand. This position will work closely with internal staff as well as external vendors.
What You’ll Do
Responsibilities:
- Manage and write internal and external communications materials ensuring that all content meets message consistency and accuracy.
- Serve as a brand gatekeeper for the organization and create brand-aligned marketing materials.
- Manage, design, and write newsletters for relevant programs.
- Create content for social media accounts and posts regularly on each account.
- Create and update marketing materials and documents in support of fundraising, donor stewardship, programs and presentation of curriculum.
- Work collaboratively with the Product Manager to manage and update Leah’s Pantry website.
- Coordinate and support communications projects, outreach, and products as needed.
- Integrate user/client voice at every level.
- May support and/or supervise interns or staff.
- Represent Leah’s Pantry and maintain positive working relationships with clients, funders, government bodies, and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay informed of developments in the field of marketing and communications within the industry to foster ideas and innovation.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in strategic communications, journalism, or equivalent from an accredited institution; candidates with a master’s degree may be prioritized.
- At least four years of advertising or marketing experience, preferably in a non-profit or public health setting.
- Demonstrated experience with all types of social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
- Experience with web content management systems.
- Candidates must live in (or plan on relocating to) California.

- Strong, versatile copywriting skills
- Good organizational, planning, and coordination skills
- Ability to multi-task and re-prioritize as needed
- A great written and oral communicator with an ability to create messages for different audiences

Leah’s Pantry Digital Asset Coordinator
Where You Fit In
We are looking for a highly organized Digital Asset Coordinator who can provide support to our growing client base. As the Digital Asset Coordinator you will work closely with Leah’s Pantry staff to support our external partners through the creation, distribution, maintenance, and archiving of health-centered resources. The ideal candidate will have a detail-oriented attitude; have a strong foundation in print and web based media design; 5+ years of experience in Adobe Creative Suite–specifically Adobe InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop, and Illustrator; and an eagerness to support technical requests internally and externally.
This position will report to the Product and Marketing Manager.
What You’ll Do
Position Responsibilities:
File creation, distribution, maintenance, archiving (70%)
- Play a key role in the construction of digital resource libraries and toolkits
- Oversee material migration, prepare new resources, develop and managing taxonomy strategies, and conduct stakeholder interviews
- Create and format documents using Adobe InDesign, and Google Docs that adhere to branding and WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines
- Adhere to file naming conventions, file management best practices, industry standard formats, and metadata standards
- Add resources to online databases and content management systems such as Dropbox, Google Drive, websites, and other web based platforms
- Check documents for AA compliance
- Adhere to WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines
- Run accessibility checks in Adobe Acrobat Pro and screen reader applications
- Check and update documents to meet accessibility standards
- Respond to relevant questions from partners, staff, and stakeholders
- Create and format Google Slides for presentations and trainings
- Create and format additional print and web based materials as needed
Website maintenance and webmaster responsibilities (20%)
- Assist with the creation, maintenance, and auditing of WordPress and Drupal websites
- Help inform data driven decision making by pulling analytic based reports
- Provide technical support for web based applications. Duties may include user account creation and maintenance, webinar access support, payment and order processing and other troubleshooting
Video editing (10%)
- Assemble video footage in iMovie, Premier, or similar applications
- Upload and archive video files to organization specific media channels
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills
- Takes initiative and manages projects individually, with a team, or cross functionally
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Strong foundation in graphic design. Able to create engaging, user-friendly materials
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat); additional video editing experience with Premiere is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft and Google Drive applications and able to format spreadsheets. Can stay digitally organized.
- This is a technical position. Must be very comfortable with using web-based software independently and be able to offer technical assistance to staff and external partners
- Interest in nutrition and/or public health
- Able to work between 8am – 4pm PST, with a home office based in California
Requirements:
- Comfortable working in content management systems like WordPress and Drupal
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Able to work on multiple tasks and prioritize work. Excellent written communication skills and an exacting knowledge of grammar and AP style
- 5+ years of experience producing print and / or digital content using Adobe Creative Suite applications (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator)
- 3+ years experience using WordPress, learning management systems, and other web based platforms
- A Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Technology, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Communication, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience
