Avoid Holiday Food Waste

Avoid Holiday Food Waste

Often times the holiday season can be a time of excess and waste. The environmental costs of wasteful habits add up. Uneaten food is the single largest component of U.S. municipal solid waste, and when this food waste rots in a landfill, it emits methane gas, a potent greenhouse gas. Globally, if food waste could be represented as its own country, it would be the third largest greenhouse gas emitter, behind China and the U.S. Do your part by finding ways to use your leftovers and reduce your food waste. We love using leftover cooked potatoes in this @eatfresh.org Frittata recipe. What’s your favorite use of leftovers?! Please share! #Planit #Cookit #SaveTheFood @savethefood @sdfoodsys http://eatfresh.org/recipe/side-dish/potato-frittata#.XA64oHpKjUs
