Food Waste Reduction Workshops

Leah’s Pantry is currently collaborating with Fresh Approach and the Office of Sustainability in San Mateo County to develop a 3-week series of Food Waste Reduction workshops. These classes help participants learn how to prepare healthy meals and reduce food waste.

The following workshops are open to the public, in partnership with Fresh Approach (see additional classes offered by Fresh Approach). Each week, Leah’s Pantry staff will share about how to reduce household food waste and preserve food, tips on composting, and some favorite recipes. Participants can come to one week or all three at each location. Each participant earns a $6 VeggieRX voucher (redeemable at local farmers’ markets in multiple counties) for each workshop they attend.

  • Duration: 90-minute workshops, once a week over a 3-week period
  • Target audience: English-speaking adults of low-income families in the San Francisco area
  • How to register: varies by site, please contact Anna at anna@leahspantry.org for more information

Update 04/2020: Due to COVID-19, our workshop schedule is temporarily postponed.

Virtual Classes

Join us in our kitchen (virtually!) to learn how to cook simple, delicious meals while saving money and reducing food waste! You can earn $6 worth of VeggieRX Vouchers to buy fruits and vegetables at local farmers’ markets (watch the classes for special instructions!)
