More about this work:
2019 was a BIG year for Leah’s Pantry; we created robust strategies, tools, and programs to expand our impact across the country. Here are some 2019 accomplishments, along with ways your support will help us grow in 2020:
- We created the first ever trauma-informed nutrition education curriculum, Around the Table. Next year, our goal is to train 100 public health departments and community based organizations to run Around the Table workshops in their communities.
- We built a thriving network of over 50 healthy food pantries and more than 130 trained partners. We expect to have over 200 healthy food pantries in our network by next year.
- We have introduced a game-changing training program for nutrition and food security partners. We explore the intersection of nourishment, trauma, and resilience. This year, we trained partners in California, Indiana, Arizona, and Washington. Help us continue to support community food security projects far and wide.
- Reducing food waste supports household food security and keeps methane-producing food scraps out of landfills. Our partnership with San Mateo County and Fresh Approach engages the community in this urgent issue. We’re planning to bring this program to other communities this coming year.
We’ve done the hard work of developing and evaluating resources, now we need to meet the demand. Your donation enables us to expand our reach and ultimately build more nourished and resilient communities across the country.
